ABOUT WALK IN MY SHOES

Imagine living with a condition that’s often invisible, yet profoundly life-altering. MS doesn’t just affect the body- it creates a huge impact on your daily life. Fatigue, nerve pain, memory lapses, and mobility challenges are just a few of the realities MS patients live with every day. And yet, many are met with silence, misunderstanding, or disbelief.

Some days, walking feels like dragging lead. Other days, it’s electric shocks with every step. And sometimes, the words just disappear mid-sentence.

And that’s why it is important to raise awareness about MS. To understand the symptoms better: ensuring early diagnosis, timely intervention, and access to high efficacy disease modifying therapies.Talking about MS can bridge gaps in diagnosis and access to treatment, which is practically half the battle won.

In an attempt to spread awareness about MS, advocate for early and accurate diagnosis, while also helping people empathize with MS patients, Multiple Sclerosis Society of India (MSSI) and Roche have joined hands to present “Walk In My Shoes”. “Walk In My Shoes” – a revolutionary awareness initiative – aims to showcase a sensory experience of MS-like symptoms to spark conversations around MS, build a sense of community and bring to the forefront the everyday challenges that MS patients face. “Walk In My Shoes” re-creates commonly occurring MS symptoms like loss of balance, motor impairment, and blurry vision.

Through this collaborative initiative, Roche Pharma India and MSSI aim to catalyse systemic change in India’s MS care landscape, championing better diagnostic pathways, enhanced specialist access, robust healthcare infrastructure, and greater awareness among both providers and the public.

It’s time we recognize that “invisible” doesn’t mean “imagined.” #WalkInMyShoes is a call for empathy: it’s about stepping into the lived experiences of those facing these invisible battles.

The campaign invites you to step into the world of those living with MS, to understand their struggles, and to join the movement towards empathy and advocacy. Understanding begins only when we slow down and walk in someone else’s shoes, even if we can’t feel the pinching feeling.

Let’s normalize conversations about MS, and extend support to those affected, not just accommodate. Because walking together is the first step taken towards creating a more supportive and inclusive future.
